Warnings Ignored
The warning was never the problem. Believing it in time was.
Ignoring warnings is apparently part of human nature. It's not that people don't hear them — it's that a warning about a future problem competes with the more urgent, more visible problems of today, and today usually wins.
In mythology, Cassandra was cursed to see the future clearly and to be believed by no one. That's not an ancient curiosity — it's a pattern that plays out every disaster season, in every warehouse, every coastline, every hospital system that says "we're fine" right up until it isn't.
The Warning Cycle
The same five stages repeat, almost every time — and the cycle resets right where it started.
This is sometimes called the "I told you so" phase, or more bluntly, FAFO — "Fool Around and Find Out." The pattern only breaks when someone treats stage 5 as the real danger and refuses to let the memory fade before the next Warn cycle begins. That's the whole idea behind a Prepper President: someone whose job is to stay in stage 1 permanently, on everyone else's behalf.

Said after the disaster — about a warning that was repeated daily beforehand."I Never Want to Go Through That Again!!"
Said with total sincerity — usually right before the memory starts to fade.
